I finished my second pair of ankle socks. These are for my daughter Rachel. I used Wool-Ease in #301 White/Multi, which has an iridescent strand running through it that gives it a shine. I then sewed clear pink buttons on the outside of each sock. Pink is her favorite color and she loves hearts. I used the same pattern I’ve been using from Edie Eckman’s booklet. Here’s what they look like.

I’m also getting close to finishing a second pair of Wool-Ease knee highs for my husband. He said that two pair will do him for the next few weeks until warmer weather is really here. That way I will have all summer to work on making more pairs for next winter. I am also getting ready to make some “Foot Thongs” for my oldest daughter, Rachel. She wear flip flops (or thongs) all summer and into fall. She has tons of pairs. I told her about them and she’s excited to see whether she will like them or not. We’ll just have to see.

Happy crafting.

I just finished my first KAL (knit along)! It was a special design by Rachel from Rachel’s Knitting Room & Knits by Rachel to celebrate her Yahoo groups first birthday. Congratulations to Rachel and Happy Birthday! It’s says Love to Knit With My Friends!.

I’ve also made some other cloths and have finally gotten around to taking photos of them. They are for my mom and sister Sara. I have some others I’m working on but haven’t finished yet. As soon as they are done I will post photos. Mom’s cloth (left), called “M’s and O’s”, found here at a cost of $2.00 (USD).  Sara’s cloth (right), called “I Love U Sis” found here, also at a cost of $2.00 (USD). PLEASE NOTE: I modified the this cloth to make it into a hanging towel instead of a cloth. These patterns were simple to follow and so much fun to make!

I’ve completed my first pair of knee-high works socks for my husband. He needed some heavier, warmer socks to wear with his work boots and it is very difficult to find good socks in a size that works for him. He has thin legs & small, narrow feet. Plus, he is very hard on socks with his job (loading & unloading supplies, equipment, etc.). These are made with Wool-Ease in Oxford Grey and size 3 DPN’s. The pattern is from a booklet I got at JoAnn’s. I’ve started a second pair, only this time I’m working with the Magic Loop Method on circular needles. It is going much faster. I also made a few changes to the pattern to suit him (and me!) better.~

My WindstarI also got my new-to-me van Friday after a week of paperwork and trying to work around John’s schedule to go and pick it up. It is a 1999 Ford Windstar. We are taking it on a road trip this Easter weekend & going down to Tennessee to visit our oldest daughter and my family, who all live in Middle Tenn. I’m looking forward to it, although I’m dreading buying the gas. Yikes!!!

I haven’t been home since September 2007, when we went down on Friday for my youngest sister’s wedding, which was September 29th. I spent the rest of Friday altering my youngest daughter’s bridesmaid dress & ironing it, the wedding was on Saturday, and then we came home on Sunday. It was very, very hectic. Here is a photo of my sister, Melissa (21), my sister Sara (the maid of honor), and Kaitlin (18). My oldest daughter, Rachel, is also 21 (but not in this picture).

These are the scarflets that I made for my sister Sara to take to work. My daughter Kaitlin graciously agreed to model them for me.The last one (the black & white one) is for my sister. The only problem she will have is deciding who to give each one to. The pattern I used was from the Berroco site and is called Knit Chemo & Scarflet pattern. I used various novelty yarns that I got on sale at Hobby Lobby.

I just finished two dishcloths I made for an exchange on my Indiana Knits group on Yahoo. I send my dishcloths to the exchange coordinator, Mom Pat, and she sends me back however many dishcloths I sent. I am sending these two, so I should get two back. This is the first time I’ve participated in something like this. It’s really neat!

This pattern I bought from one of my favorite sites for dishcloths, Knits by Rachel. It is called “Little Miss Happy Flower” and cost $2.00 (US). She also has free patterns. She designs fabulous dishcloths and oven hangers. I belong to her Yahoo group, Rachel’s Knitting Room, which just turned one year old!

The pattern for this cloth came from another one of my favorite sites, Knitting Knonsense, and was free here. She has many patterns on her site, both free & to buy. She also offers other craft items (books, etc.) and is located in Okinawa, Japan.

I used Sugar ‘n Cream cotton in Cream to make both dishcloths. It is a gorgeous color that looks like French Vanilla Ice Cream! I have some left over and eventually, I am going to use up my little balls of cotton to make a bath matt. Should be interesting!
